Route and border crossings
Distance from our yard in Kotowa Wola to Košice: about 290 km, roughly 4 h of driving (border waits and driver rest not included).
From Kotowa Wola you drive south via Rzeszów and Krosno to the Barwinek / Vyšný Komárnik crossing (about 175 km), then through Prešov to Košice (TODO-SPRAWDZIC). Both countries are in Schengen, so no customs stop. The mountain road near the border can be slow in winter for heavy vehicles.
Documents, customs and VAT
- Intra-EU supply: with an active Slovak VAT number (VIES) we issue an invoice without Polish VAT; the acquirer reports it in Slovakia (TODO-SPRAWDZIC with an accountant).
- Registration: technical inspection (STK) and emission check (EK) at an authorised station, then registration at the district transport office (TODO-SPRAWDZIC current procedure).
- Tolls: Slovakia uses an electronic distance toll (eMyto) for vehicles above 3.5 t; the tractor needs an on-board unit or prepaid registration (TODO-SPRAWDZIC).
- Delivery: low-loader or transit plates; we supply the Polish registration papers and the invoice.

Eastern Slovakia has many small and mid-size carriers that buy Euro 5 and Euro 6 tractors for German and Hungarian routes and trailers for steel and automotive parts (Košice and Prešov).
